That is why those of us who ARE married are sometimes envious. (Good thing the better half isn't on this board.)
BTW, I would think color on same color to be a good casual look.

And it's a Kathy Lare kilt to boot. I must get some pix up of the outfit.

These are exactly what I had in mind to make myself....price is great, but after paying for shipping from your side of the pond, I'd venture that I can probably make them much cheaper.

Which brings me to a related question...and hope I'm not hijacking the thread in asking...but does anybody have recommendations for material to make garter ties like these? I know the traditional are woven to width and one solid strip. I also know that the Wooded Hamlet website sells wool woven tapes and braids that would work, though they don't have 1 1/4" which I think seems to be the perfect width for garter ties? I'd also like to avoid ordering over the internet and waiting. Any US-Based kilties know if Joannes or some other fabric / craft stores have a variety of colored tapes that I could turn into traditional looking garter ties?

I also do this a lot. I wear yellow Lewis hose with yellow ties and the brown Lewis hose with brown ties. I think it looks fantastic.

I was just going to reference that photo of the Marquis of Huntly, which is from Keepers of the Kingdom: The Ancient Offices of Britain by Bruce, Calder and Cator.

Don't forget that Matt carries them at the museum.

Like Matt I have a few pairs of fancy top hose with garter ties that match the main hose color and think they look great. Also have a pair of royal blue chevron cut garter flashes ttha ave a small peek of red in the chevrons that I regulalry wear with my similar royal blue kilt hose, but the little bit of red that pops out from behind the blue really brings attention to them.

And unfortunately those pictures are no longer showing on the thread of that name from last June by JSFMACLJR.

He doesn't carry sets though, where I can swap out the color of the flashes at random instead of buying 8 different sets of flashes. It seems to be more cost effective that way.

Although not quite as authentic as the traditional garter ties, the following garter based flashes yield a similar appearence without having to worry about the length of the ties relative to one's calves, or with fiddling with tying them. They come in a variety of colors in two grouped packages (ancient and modern), and actually look great with just about any hose you will come across. Especially nice if you are averse to tartan flashes, as I know many on the forum are wont to be.

I got the ancient set several months ago and have the modern set on order right now, hopefully in my mailbox when I get home tonite. Enjoy.
