Yeah, unless I'm picturing something very different to what you had in mind, I just don't see it happening... At least not without some pretty serious ribbing from others. I'm a fairly liberal thinker and avant-garde dresser, but this seems to be a bit too much even for me... ;-)

It's already been done. Kilted Carver had one made to wear when he was working. The bib part would fold inside the aprons when he didn't need it.

Tell that to the Leatherman company...... I don't know such a garment might be interesting. Done the right way could be very Steampunk....but then I'm just weird.
