I have many Lagioles that I simply wear as they are.

    Yours is gorgeous.

Here is a page about a full tang Sgian Dubh. I really like it. I think done right it could be made to work for formal, but that it definitely is more likely a day knife. I think with a dark wood, ebony, Black Walnut, Culloden Bog Oak, Purple Heart, and Pewter, or Silver bolsters, and a stone embedded on the handle, it could go as high as semi formal. I like the idea of a dark wood, and a horn one.

Our "biodag" knives made by Bullman Studios are all full tang, and make exellent sgians. I have one he made for me from Ebony that I wear nearly every day.

The photos I have up on our site now really don't do them justice. He's been making a lot with mixed woods lately and that is not refelcted on our site. Some of his nicer mosiac pieces I think would be excellent for formal wear.

No one who has purchased one from our shop yet has ever said anything about the full tang.

Here's a full tang sgian I had made by a knifemaker in Fredericksburg, Texas. It's not meant to be a thing of beauty, rather, it's intended for field use. ATS 34 and African blackwood.

Here's a more elegant full tang sgian which I'm hoping will be my next acquisition:

    Matt,
Does the biodag come with a sheath?

Ok, was browsing for some materials for future knives while it's a bit cool for working in the garage when I came a cross a site with some fossil ivory pieces.

While I would love to use some walrus it can't be shipped out of the US. They also had some elephant that is pre-ban but I also not to found of materials that were gathered while wasting the rest of the animal. Granted he's been dead for a while but still.

A couple ones that did catch my attention were fossil corral -

    Some mammoth tooth -

And some wlarus oosic (please look it up, the description would get me banned) -

While we were talking about sgain dubhs that are different how different would you go? Granted disgusting though it maybe oosic would make a great conversation piece.

My most recent idea for a beautiful full tang Sgian Dubh, is this: Damascus Steel Blade and tang, Black Walnut Scales, and Iona Marble embedded on the top of the handle.

Here's a full tang sgian in legal ivory and damascus, now owned by ChattanCat.

Of course, since it is white, maybe it is no longer a sgian "dubh" ?
