Yeah, I just saw it. I must have missed that thread yesterday. I like the look, even the moving of the tartan to the title boxes. I think that maybe a different background color might be in order.

Yep, that upgrade happened with a jolt. Something to get used to. So far, so good. Love the banner

The site now takes about 15 or 16 seconds to load a new page on my computer instead of the 5 or 6 it used to take, which has increased the amount of time it takes me to browse the forums. It's pretty, but if given the choice I'd rather get more reading done on a plainer site.

I am hoping that caching will improve this, as I browse about, but my initial reaction is the same.

There is change just for the sake of change, and that's what this seems to be. The plain, ugly background leaves me feeling cold. You've managed to turn something quite unique into something that looks like a thousand other forums.

Holy moley! I thought I'd hit a funky button by accident, and I've been trying to get back to "my" Xmarks. I've been trying to figureout what I did thinking that I'd inadvertently changed the view settings or something.

    I guess it's just gone.

At my age, I don't like change. I guess it'll grow on me. But then so does athlete's foot, and it's a fungus!

At 100% view, the top banner runs off the right hand side of the page. And I notice that that V-Bulltin thing is gone from the top of the page.

All this change is so distressing! I better go take a nap.

I don't want this to be seen as a Luddite comment at all and this is made in all seriousness. I find the print really hard to read at the moment. With the old print I could, just, write a post without my glasses and just read what was written without glasses. Now for some reason I can't write or read the posts at all without my glasses.Just thought you would like to know and if something could be done, I for one would be grateful.

Jock, you are NOT a Luddite in this regard. I'm also having troubles. I need the text to be BLACK... Otherwise it's way too hard to read. See, the tartan background which ended up framing the whole screen also added some contrast, making it easier to look at. Now, I can't read for more than a couple minutes without my eyes getting tired -- it's like having a case of snow blindness. It's all too light colored.

With respect to advertising, that's Steve's thing... But being able to read the forum content properly and comfortably seems like it aught to have some degree of priority.

In the mean time, to at least HELP with making things more readable, could I ask people to highlight their entire text before hitting "Submit" and selecting the "black" color tag from the editing palette? It will make your post SO much easier for some of us to read.

    Thanks.

P.S. As an added tip to Jock Scott, do you realize that you can actually increase the size of all the text on the page in your browser? Depending on which browser you are using, you can do it from the "View" menu at the top, or as a keyboard shortcut. On my Mac it's Command-"+" for bigger and Command "-" for smaller. On a PC it would probably be "Ctrl" or "Alt" I imagine.
