It's good to be missed!
There have been some reasons, other than family time, that Jamie has been absent. I also think it is unlikely that anything will be done to resolve the issues that have caused his absence, but time heals many wounds, so we'll see.
(Apologies and respect also heal wounds, but I don't foresee that happening any time soon.)
Enough said...
Be well,
Star

Star,
Thank you for letting us know. I'm sorry--very sorry--to see Panache no longer here. I would hope that whatever has lead to this absence would be remedied with respect and understanding.

Missed? That's a bit of an understatement.
There are a number of regular contributors to this board which truly give it it's personality, which help make it what it unique. I put you and Jamie high on that list. (And yes, you too Grant).
It's those personalities, that friendly banter that makes this forum what it is. Even most of the disagreements have an underlying respect between the posters. On the odd occasion where that respect is not there, the offending member is usually called out on it and an apology is usually made.
It's that sort of mutual respect that makes this feel like a family, not simply an informational forum. To be honest, that (in my opinion) is what keeps this forum alive.
Face it, how many posts can be made about pleat styles, how low to hang a sporran or how to respond to "the question?" If that's the goal of the forum, then all threads should be locked. If someone has a question or an insight, they can be directed to the appropriate threads from the past where the subject was covered. Perhaps some sort of search engine can be engineered for this purpose.
But I digress.
Jamie, Starr - be well. I sincerely hope your absence isn't over long, and remember you have friends here.

Unfortunately, some people don't understand. They only see this board as an information board and that it is okay to not have any personality. They don't see the value of having fun people around or doing anything fun for others. It is sad to see the original spirit of XMTS is lost.
I will not be surprised to see that this forum turns into a propaganda machine in the near future. The lost of Valuable contributors is simply the first act, and who knows what the second act will be.
Jamie is still with us in the cyberspace, and it is good to see that we have another web address to socialise with each other. The other place is more open and we can have private chats without involving moderators. It is free and I can even log it wirelessly via an app on my iPhone...

Star, you are right, as always. Time for me to man up.
Jamie, I'm sorry that I am better looking than you, that I look better in a kilt than you. I'm also sorry that even though you spent vast amounts of time and creativity making this a better, nay, the best forum on the internet I ridiculed and disrespected you so much. That you strived so hard to make this the family friendly forum only hoped for at it's inception, that you suceeded in that is quite amazing given that my goal was bend those rules to the point of breaking. Oh how many times did I cause you to put our friendship aside when I'd go too far. Although I'll never apologize for making fun of your feathered plume or pith helmet (I still giggle when I say that word - pith, hehe). I've realized, in your absence that you'd become the heart and soul of this forum (although deep down I'd always known this). It is now, even with many of our mutual friends still here, just a shell of the forum it was. I sit and wonder which will last longer. My time here at XMTS or the forum itself? Although I cannot apologize for this, this is what I most sorry for.

Tell the ole chap we all say hello. I hope that your family is doing well. It's nice to see you here at times Star, it feels a little like home with some of the old crowd checking in.
You too Grant ;)

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
