True, but those don't help you illuminate the recesses of your sporran or find your dropped car keys on a dark night, nor can they be used to point things out in multimedia presentations.
If you want another useful but "non-bladed" option, there's always the "Sgian Brew" for the parties that don't have enough bottle openers to go around.

Due to health reasons, I am not allowed to drive. More than once, out piping at dusk, I've wished for a flashlight but wasn't ready to carry yet something /else/ in my sporran.
I tend to be out late walking far more often than I find myself at parties.
Now, I've seen a couple people make a "Sgian flash drive." That would fit this geeks needs rather well.

That is awesome! I can't believe I hadn't thought of it.

A-HA!
I've seen references to the sgian dubh being historically used for skinning game, among other things...so...to your flash drive sgian, add a small screwdriver, in case you need to fell and skin an ornery (pronounced "ON-ry" ) desktop.

That would be any good party, in my opinion. The kind of party that starts in the morning, and wraps up sometime the following morning when the breakfast has all been eaten. Or on any repetition of the above 24-hour cycle... I can only attend one of those a year. It lasts three days. There's never enough bottle openers in the world.
I have also seen (carried by our Wizard of BC) the "Sgian Shoe" made from the handle of one of those cast plastic handle-and-sheath-with-no-blade things, glued onto the end of a black plastic shoehorn.
Hadn't heard of the USB trick. Saw an old guy once with an oyster knife sgian dhu, and a tailor who had one that was a seam-ripper. It's supposed to be useful as well as decorative -- so let yer imagination run free.
