I should like to take this opportunity to wish all my kilted friends here in the UK, in Europe and across the globe, the merriest of Christmases and the happiest, healthiest 2011 imaginable.

Sadly, this year I have been unable to send many personal one-to-one greetings and so, in asking forgiveness, I request that those who haved received them in the past should accept this message for this year. I hope that normal service will be resumed next year!

In a more positive vein, I heard yesterday that the date of my next surgery has been brought forward and will now take place on 12th January - weather permitting!!
