Just to clarify, the reason I was asking for a more laymen answer to the whole thing is that I wasn't sure if this was accepted by all as complete fiction, or if it was similiar to scientology which has been taken from Hubbard and now has a standing, I suppose, among religions.
My apologies then. As mentioned it is complete fiction. The Cthulhu 'mythos' has, however gained something of a "cult" following (get it? cult? I slay me) among gamers, comic book, science fiction and fantasy readers otherwise known as nrdz.
Don't be bugged, Bear: the whole Cluthu and Elder Gods thing was entirely made up in the mid-20th century, by the American writer H P Lovecraft in order to sell short stories to pulp horror magazines. Plus of course for the sake of art. Cluthu is no more real than Mickey Mouse, except of course in the hearts of children....
Well I started out serious but lost it at the end there.
Just so no one gets the wrong idea, I was aware of that.
Not quite sure what I said to lead you down that path....
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Well gorsh, I know plenty of folks who I would assume would not go forth and look upon the images of other gods, or not evil ones, and you seemed to be self-identifying as one of those... I didn't want the OP to bring down an invocation against Xmarks similar to the kilt banning preacher's one against kilts....

No, not at all. I have sent you a PM explaining what I meant.
I have no issue with looking upon gods of what ever ilk; just a little eye problem...
You wouldn't have known that.
My Firefox brouzer has problems lately with loading threads in which videos are posted, so I had to use a different one just to reply.
Sorry about that.

HA!
Reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw years ago. "Cthulhu saves...In case he gets hungry later".
During a certain election period here in Canada there was a bumper sticker that read "Vote for Cthulhu, the greater of two evils." Darned if I could get one, but darned if I did!

I've always liked Metallica's The Call Of Ktulu
(I tried to locate a live vid of the late great Cliff Burton, but no luck...this'll have to do.)
