@Xman... Kilt C: can you tell us anything about this piece? Is it a cape or apron? Is it to go over one shoulder? We were told by someone (maybe you?) on this site that "Kaber Kilts" has gone out of business and I have no way of finding out what this piece is used for.. Any ideas anyone?

I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help. My thought was that it might be some kind of Great Kilt though. I can't otherwise explain the seeming 'layers'. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable will chime in shortly.

Do you know the family names of the uncle's forebears, or those of his wife?
In a collection of this size he might have got a kilt from each of the clans he could find any connection to.
B is giving me fits. It doesn't match any Black Watch variant I can find, colors also have me looking through the Elliots and the Grants. B doesn't seem to be any of Elliot, Grant, MacEwan, MacKay or Morrison. I am stopping at the M's tonight, getting late here.

Right, I don't find a Clan Matches tartan. But each of Mr. Matches and Mr. Norquay married ladies who previosly had maiden names, and their mother's each had maiden names...
Just saying. If you think of any of those names it would likely be "low hanging fruit."

In regards to the mighty layered creation kilt, Kilt C. The layers appear to be the underdside. The way the label lays, the layers or tiers are either the underside or it flips over and half is on one side and half on the other.
