Utilisarong?!
I'm the same way. It would feel weird wearing an Asian/islander garment, being of purely Scottish and English breeding.
But I have been known to hang around the house in a bath towel wrapped around my waist! No pleats to sweep.

This thread
back from the dead!
I still wear the sarong on occasion. Mostly because I now work from home 2 days a week, and if I sit on pleats for 8 hours my cheeks hurt, as well as the pleats get mashed. For some reason kilting has never been a problem, yet I just cannot sleep in the buff - so the sarong makes a nice unbifuricated pajama as well.
Now that its a bit colder the kilt is coming out again, regardless of pleats. I no longer even earn a second look amongst my apartment complex for wearing it. They just expect it.

I find this comment odd, frankly garments don't really care what your genetics are. Using the same argument for kilts has caused much of a major stir on this site.
Not Scottish = Kilt OK?
Not Asian/Islander = Sarong NO?

Reason: Removing tunic comment.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Although not tropical Toronto can get very hot and humid in the summer and I did nick my wife's sarong from time to time when we lived there. I concur that they are very comfortable in the heat.

I will be in Bali at the end of the month and as well as taking a kilt I can assure you that I will also be wearing a sarong at times. We have some good Balinese friends are are often invited to temple ceremonies, weddings and funerals. As I have been to Bali so many times they now expect me in a sarong.

All references that I can find say that the sarong, in all its forms, is a unisex garment.
I do not understand why we are discussing it here.

The OP wasn't asking if it was a female or male garment he was asking if anyone else wears the sarong.
We are discussing it here because it's about a unbifurcated garment.
Let YOUR utterance be always with graciousness, seasoned with salt, so as to know how you ought to give an answer to each one.

There was a time in the not so distant past (and I am sure you can remember), that any mention of an unbifurcated garment that wasn't a kilt would cause the thread to be closed or the post to be removed.
From the FAQs:
"MUG" - A Male Unbifurcated Garment. This term was coined buy the Utilikilt Company, of Seattle to describe their specific product. A male, skirt like garment, with little or no connection to the Tradition of the Scottish Kilt.
The title and header, I think sums it up:
General Kilt Talk A place to discuss old kilts, new kilts, red kilts, blue kilts...
The site is called:
X Marks the Scot - A Community of Kiltwearers

So no mention of utilikilts or forum sponsor altkilt is to be made. Because it's a MUG or non traditional kilt. Correct? I don't have issue with you or what your saying. It's hard to convey intentions through text. I am just trying to find the line between what we can discuss here and what we can't or shouldn't. And if we shouldn't be discussing non traditional kilts then why is alt kilt a sponsor of this forum?

I don't make the rules and I am not the one who has to enforce them. All I am saying is that there used to be a sidebar on the right hand side which stated that this was not the place to talk about skirts, dresses, lava lavas, sarongs, chadras or dhotis.
There was one member expelled for doing so.
Obviously times have changed.
I do not believe that we are going to come to any form of consensus, so any further discussion is pointless.
