I've heard the same joke wrt the UK and France. However I happen to like France so won't repeat it.

I'll go with chrisupyonder though and add that you could apply it to most parts of the UK outside London.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

I think it';s another thing that binds us all together as people. We like to jab at our politicians.

    God blessed Texas?

I have it on good authority that Sam Houston, the great Texan, said if he owned hell and Texas, he would live in hell, and rent out Texas.

I will agree that there are a lot of idiots in DC, and I make an excellent living, trying to smarten them up. Job security! lol.

Sounds about right, but I think there were a few transcription errors. "Lakes" should be "reservoirs" and "mountains" should be "water towers".

There is nothing nice about West Texas unless you like dry, dusty, flat, desert. Im sure parts of Florida are a lot nicer than this.

Well... we don't get hurricanes so there's a plus.

If by West Texas you mean New Mexico and Arizona, then yes, I would have to agree! haha! See, I jab at my home state!

But most of them are imported for temporary terms, we try to be gracious hosts - but you should see some of those southerners drive the first time it snows each year.

I assure you Sir, that essentially NOBODY in DC knows how to drive in snow. They have shut down the schools because 1-2 inches of snow was PREDICTED, when not a flake had yet fallen.

Hey now, that's not entirely true! Texas does have one natural lake. All the rest are reservoirs.

As for mountains, we do have them. I just got done climbing the highest one in Texas. 3,000 feet to the summit... that's a wee bit taller than our water towers!

It does take a certain type of person to think of far West Texas as "nice". But it does have a rugged beauty all its own. It's part of God's balance, see?
