Now then chaps you are beginning to worry me-----again! I am reading in this thread, disturbing comments like;"a little more dressy" and " this or that colour is not very flattering" and so on. Before long you will start talking about "matching" again! Not that any of this is earth shatteringly important, but I do think you are tending to put too much thought into your colour choice. Wear any colour you like(apart from white) and wear the first pair of hose, of any colour, that come to hand when getting togged up and get on with life!

Well said Jock! I have fell victim to matching hose - not often, but it tends to happen at times (I try not to care too much about that finer point). Definitely not the way to go - check out my recent thread entitled, 2011 Kentucky Scottish Weekend.
To much my chagrin,

I would do a yellow, mustard, tartan red, brick red, claret, or dusty pink in kilt hose with your mentioned tartan choice.

I agree with Jock - wear the first pair of hose you grab. However, you must make sure your flat cap matches your hose <grin>

That's my thought, too! So much agonizing over something so small! That being said, I have found that sometimes, the hose you wear can really make the tartan pop. Forest green with the Colorado State looks spectacular. But unless you find that one color that really brings out the tartan, it doesn't really matter! Close your eyes, stick your hand in the drawer, pull out a pair, and get your bum dressed!

My favorite hose to wear are burnt orange, with my Caledonia tartan - there isn't so much as a hint of orange in this tartan, save where the yellow stripe intersects the red.
And I've even had my wife tell me "wear the orange ones... they look better" than the pair of "denim blue" that I specifically purchased to complement the Caledonia.

I agree with tehe general chorus opposing the orange laden ancient red. It can be done with your tartan, but, but, claret and even (dare I say it) tartan red might work better.
Besides the purple Matt already sugegsted, mustard yellow might could work too.
I though I really wanted a pair of ancient red hose, but none of the 22 girls surveyed in my office thought it would work for me. I bet with MacLeod of Lewis and the right skin tones the ancient red might be smashing.

Red hose for Red Hot Chilli Pipers concerts is quite the in thing or so I thought. Well at least no one complained when I wore some.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

I say any colour goes - with the exception of white and ancient blue.
I'll echo AKScott in saying that I think tartan red might be a better choice (though the hose you posted would work, I'm just not a big fan of orange).
I'm a huge fan of yellow hose, so I'll recommend them as well.
