The order is placed, let the jones begin!
Well, there is a wee problem with that: You ordered from Stillwater. That means there won't be enough time to experience a proper jones before the goodies arrive.

I'll be ordering the leather sporran belt along with the nightstalker sporran around Christmas time. I hope I am correct in assuming that he can use the belt with both sporrans, as both Andrew(husband) and his father, who plays with the local pipe band, have warned me about what chains can do to a kilt over time.

That's the great part. He's only 11, so his jones started the moment I said I was agreeable to buying the kit for him. I will not be at all surprised if I start getting regular phone calls from him asking if it's here yet. I didn't tell him when I was placing the order, so the element of surprise is on my side.

I believe you have made a good choice. He can likely wear the plain, three-tassel for many years to come as it is essentially a timeless style. He has to carry very little, actually, so the size is not an issue. He doesn't even have much of a wallet at this point, so maybe he'll learn to carry less. I've gone from a suitcase-sized Rob Roy to a much smaller, hunting style. I just don't carry so much any more.
And besides, that's why God invented pockets in shirts and jackets.
