Great pictures Chris of an interesting part of the far North of mainland Scotland and the not so distant Isle, all of which, in many ways, is so unlike the rest of the Highlands.

I was up your way fishing the Thurso the week before last, staying at Halkirk. That cannot be too far from where you stay, I suppose?

You're at approx. 59 North latitude, and I'm at approx. 35N, just a little south of Lisbon, Portugal. I never realized, until I joined here, just how far north Scotland is.

Beautiful pictures, Chris. I really enjoy ocean shots.
Is it light until midnight tonight?

Usually not quite dark, just a glow but enough to read a book.

About 30 to 45 mins drive to Halkirk depending on sheep and tractors on the road.
We don't get traffic jams, we get sheep jams.

    What are the dogs names?
Buster the Lurcher and Mandy the Collie mixture.
And I kept well away from them when they came out of the sea.

Orkney was actually a part of Norway from year 875 to 1468
Yes the history of Orkney is very interesting and they still consider themselves more Viking than Scots.

    Thanks for your appreciation.

    Chris.

Would that be the Ulbster Arms Hotel? I used to look after their computers.

Give me a PM next time you are up this way and I can come down for a drink.
