question for the Marines

Gents,
I appreciate your responses...I honestly didn't expect otherwise, but thought I would ask.

I have a great deal of respect for all those that serve any branch of their nations military, past or present--and especially those lining up each day to take over for those of us that are getting too old (or broken) to be at the tip of the spear.

So, a heart felt Semper Fi to my Marine friends; Hooah! To my Army comrades, Fair Winds to my fellow shipmates and an additional thanks to the Air Force.

Now...whenever I cross YOUR path (listening Steve??), I'll be offering YOU a coffee or whatever is suitable to the moment.

From a civilian who has worked with all branches of the US military, a heartfelt thanks. For the Marines, Semper Fi (and in Irish - Claoi i gconai).

I always try and post a heartfelt "Semper Fi" from an ex Swabi on or around the Corp''s anniversary as a sign of respect and thanks to our current and former Marines. Other than that, I don't use the phrase.

I have to concur with the other Marines here. I don't think Marines ever think much about what others think or say or do . . . unless they're on a big Army base and outnumbered!

And one thing you have to understand: if you're not a Marine, you don't understand.

I always make it a point to thank any veteran when the occasion arises. I try to speak to active duty personnel and even offer a beer or a meal in the air port. And I go out of my way to thank the few WW II vets around--Last Man Standing is how they are refered to in these parts.

So thanks, everyone who ever served in any way. And Semper Fi, Marines.

I bought two Marines a beer in an airport bar in Newark earlier this year as a way a of saying thanks, but I always thought it would be somehow disrespectful to say "Semper Fi" to a Marine unless you were one.

The amount of information you can glean off this forum continues to boggle the mind.

I think it's a compliment to the Marine Corps when civilians acknowledge what we do or did.

Two things here:

One: buying beer for marines is good karma.

Two: Saying "Semper Fi" to a Marine, especially when it's heartfelt, is always appreciated!
