Hose for Isle of Skye kilt
Just off the blocking mat, my third pair of kilt hose this year:



I made these to go with my husband's Isle of Skye kilt. I included the flashes to show the tartan colors.
The cuff, a Celtic braid, is adapted from a chart in Lady Gainford's book. I used oddments of Japanese sock yarns.
The leg is ribbed, with decreases down the back. I used two kinds of German sock yarn for this, wool & silk blends. One was a solid green, the other a variegated green, blue, and brown mix.
The toes and heels are premium German sock yarn, which I reinforced with a thin woolly nylon yarn. I made the joins for the heels and toes in garter stitch, the better to see when I have to replace them.
I'll get a photo soon with these hose on the man himself. It's a northern latitude here, not much daylight for taking pictures.
