Re: Whisky Galore
Thank you for the "heads-up" ... I've got my favourite used-book-store looking for me, and I'm searching eBay ... I'll look for the series instead of the single story. I'm looking forward to reading these.

You might try Abe Books, too. They are a web-based "bookstore" with independent dealers all over the world.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Which do you prefer? It may be an unfair question, since they were made over a half century apart. Notwithstanding the modern production quality of MOTG, I enjoyed it much more than the movie. In fact it is one of my favorite TV series along with "All Creatures Great and Small".

Oh, I love the old movies better, as long as the dialogue isn't too melodramatic and campy. I recommend "I Know Where I'm Going". And last evening, I watched "The Captive Heart (1946)" as it was also on YouTube in the right frame when I saved 'WG'. Gordon Jackson makes an appearance as an A&SH prisoner of war of the Germans (ein Kriegsgefangene), and wears his badger mask sporran in a flashback scene. Excellent movies!

Thanks for the recommendation. I just put "The Captive Heart" on my Netflix queue.
