Congrats on making it through! I wish you continued health and success. Make sure you always follow your doctor's advice, eat healthy and exercise.

By way of example and warning, I have a family history of heart disease and have a genetic pre-disposition to high cholesterol. My mother's father - I never knew him, so I don't call him my grandfather - had a massive MI at 46. The way Mom describes it (she was only 9 at the time), he died before he hit the floor. Probably didn't have the best of diets, and like most men of the era, didn't do 'exercise' the way we think of it. I don't know if he'd had previous episodes or not, and Mom doesn't know either (it's not something you talk about in front of your young kids).

One of my uncles - the oldest of my mother's siblings - had his first MI at age 33. Had his first double-bypass at 34. His second double at about 38. His first quad at about 42. His second (and last) quad at about 46). Had a transplant at 49, but didn't wake up after the surgery. He didn't smoke, didn't drink. He wasn't obese by any means, but also didn't eat right and didn't exercise. After 20 years, I still miss him.

Another uncle (brother to the above), had his first and only - that we know of - MI at 57. He died on the way to the hospital. Another that didn't eat right nor exercise outside of his daily activities.

For myself, I try to maintain a healthy diet and watch my cholesterol levels in particular. I know I should exercise more than I do, and that's something I intend to correct.

You look great in the pic! Well done. I had my heart attack a little over a year ago. I left the hospital kilted.

From one MI survivor to another, I wish you a joyous and long (medically) uneventful life.

That is a great example of how we should all live in a manner that satisfies us. Life is just a temporary condition and every day should be lived in a way that is enjoyable and fulfilling. Wearing the kilt is a wonderful part of that.

Good health and happiness to you and yours.

Do what you like in life, which is what we all should do, but often feel we need an 'excuse' for. It will spread.

Devil take the bosses at work. They denied my request to celebrate Tartan Day in the office.
