Not quite so sure of the price being "too low", though, for 5.11. Their pants usually run from $55 to $75 MSRP, depending on the style and features. Given that some of their tac pants have sewn-in knee-pad pockets and other details, both in additional fabric and in sewing/construction, I would think that $59 would be at the low end of what I'd expect from their pricing.
For comparison, 5.11 charges $49.99 for their tactical shorts...

And Woolrich charges $54.99 for their tac shorts...
http://www.woolrichelite.com/products/eliteshort.htm
So if 5.11 were to charge 60 bucks for basically the same quantity of fabric, and similar features as their shorts, I wouldn't think they couldn't mass-produce kilts in stock waist sizes, for that.
Edit: Remember, we aren't talking about custom made to order products, from costly materials such as new worsted wool, nor would these be sewn-by-hand one-offs. 5.11 sells mass-produced, all machine sewn clothing, in stock sizes, from common materials (cotton or rip-stop, for example.) And as I've said in an earlier post, I've had stitched belt loops separate from the waistband of 5.11 pants before, so you sure aren't paying for any higher quality. I would think $60 is right in line with 5.11 pricing.

No, not really. Some even think that there isn't anything that isn't already tactical. Just that some stuff is more tactical that other stuff.

"Premium" doesn't quite apply here, as this thing, if it's real, only cost around $60.
But, yeah, I see your point, Gingerpose. A few over sized pockets and some rip-stop material seems to be all it takes.

Oh... and I believe the correct spelling for the mass-market wannabe's, is "tacti-cool" (or is it "tacti-kewl")

i love 511 gear. the ad looks a lot more hokey than the typical 511 demo, which makes me call shenanigans. still, as has happened before, i hope that enough interest get raised to encourage them to release this for real.

$60 is a good price, IMO.
I would like to see a Utili or Tactical kilt that doesn't look like a wrinkly, ill hanging skirt.
Like the front pockets, though.
....and the tactical underpants. LOL
I am looking for a good (am comfortabler to work in) carry holster, at the moment. I need something comfortable in pants, the high waist of a kilt will make that really tough, IMO.
Tactical sporran is my thought.

Yeah... I think I'll just continue to not worry about stuff that has the word tactical attached to it.

Although desert tan has invaded that space, it used to be that marketers would just color something black, and presto - instant "tactical."
Since I have two black sporrans (sporrii?) wouldn't they then qualify in the world of marketing?

They have to be made of ripstop nylon - leather "tactical" is so 1653.
I think my Nightstalker sporran would qualify as tactical...
Have fun and throw far. In that order, too. - o1d_dude
