I have to agree with Trefor and Alex that its a great shame that they, and many thousands of others will not get a chance to see the Olympic Torch because of security and route planning. Its bound to leave a bad taste.
On a lighter note though .. yep the flame came past the top of our lane tea-time yesterday. There were loads out to see it and there was a wonderful atmosphere. It took about 10 mins for the parade to pass along even before it got to the torch bearer. Here are a few shots.

It then continued another several miles into the city centre where they were over 17000 people waiting to see it at Cardiff Castle.

After all thats been said I guess I'm lucky to have seen it.

Very nice. Great close-up view you were able to get.

Looking at the route map for the torch, it seems it will miss virtually all of the Highlands of Scotland. As usual, north of Inverness "Here Be Dragons!"

""Here be dragons" is a phrase used to denote dangerous or unexplored territories, in imitation of the medieval practice of putting sea serpents and other mythological creatures in uncharted areas of maps."

Very fine photos from a wonderfully close viewpoint!

I know in the US, the torch routes are mapped out with population density in mind. So Chris, perhaps it's not such a bad thing that the Highlands are still virtually excluded. . .?

Well I could always buy one on fleebay...

It should be realized that each runner gets to keep his/her torch and uniforms for a small fee and that over 8,000 torches have been made.

I think I will just find a deep cave and hide until it's all over.

    Chris.
