my first box pleat kilt, very,,, eh fun. and sporran
hello,
threw out my kilt wearing years growing up, i have several times tried making my own kilt, some with good success so not so much ,lol, but i have always loved the look of box pleats and finally decided to give it a try.
i had a 2-3 yard chunk of double width light weight tartan so i cut it in half sewed the ends together and began the journey of box pleats. because of the limited fabric i had i decided to make it a "lil"kilt or phillabeg as i have seen them called.
i have not pressed down the pleats as of yet and not sure if i will but i did sew them down a bit from the waist band area.
also the sporran i made from elk leather after seeing the great ones you all made.
sorry for the not so good picts. as i was doing this alone.
