Hi All, As a kilted Christian I have had no problems about being seen in Church with my kilt. I wear it there a lot. To Sunday services, Alpha Courses, cell meetings. My Paster looks and smiles. He asked me why and I told him its fun, comfortable and I like it. His reply was "Go for it". I belong to Christian Fellowship Church Belfast. http://www.cfc-net.org/ I have always received quizical looks and the usual fun comments but never a word against. I praise God for an accepting bunch of believers and friends.

Hey Daneel, I think your church may be similar to mine. Do you guys do praise type music or hymn type music? Also how charasmatic is your church? I know that seems like a wierd question but I am just wondering.

I grew up in a real sit-down-be-quiet-dont-clap type church. I was exposed to really charasmatic churches in high school and college (ie. tounges, slaying in the spirit, prophecy services) but it wasnt my cup-o-tea. My wife and I found a happy medium in a church that was started by a Baptist minister but had an Appalachian Pentacostal Praise Team. It was call Banner Elk Christian Fellowship.

When we moved back to Charleston SC we started goping to a contemporary praise and worship style church but hands raised and clapping is as charasmatic as it gets. I love it and feel that it is truly where God wants me.

I have been a memeber of CFC for about 12 years now, We are very much centered around praise and worship. We are led in worship by a group of bands with anything from 4 to 8 members each. Playing a range of instruments violin flute sax penny whistle assorted drums piano assorted guitars vocal choir. You name it we have it. In fact we have a worship band on tour in Africa, and last week we ran a worship conference with people coming from as far away as the US and Down Under. The concert during the conference was attended by 7000 people. We outsold WestLife and Diana Ross. Not bad for a Christ Centered gig.
We sing allsorts of somgs and hymns both old and new. A lot of the songs a written by church members. I am happy to say we clap hands, dance and wave banners during the services. If it was good enought for Kings David and Solomen it is good enought for us. God Bless

Here's my story. in the late 1950's my mother bought a church and turned it into a ballet studio as well as our home. I thought that was the best thing ever that could happen to church, 300 girls going through my house a week. That was a kind of heaven. My thoughts on religeon... I think I better pass, in fact with all do respect, and I mean respect everyone is entitled to an opinion and I'll stick with science.
As for kilts there is a special tartan for clergy. I'll have to try and find it and post a picture.

I pastor a small local fellowship of the Church of God. For the last few weeks I've begun wearing my kilt to the service.

O.K., as a pagan, yes, I was raised in a S.Baptist Church but in HS was introduced to Eastern Studies and later worked with a Cherokee Shaman and for many years trained under a Hawaiian Kahuna and have an ex-longterm relationship with a witch.

For the pagan, or at least I guess this pagan's view, I would not have a problem with wearing a kilt to church or even another religious ceremony. Many times I have worn a Hawaiian Malo (kind of a sarong but for guys) to different ceremonies and felt comfortable doing it.

As far as comments and looks...I've still have somewhere in storage my poly-leasure suit from 1972 and that REALLY would get comments and looks, probably more that my kilt!

Thanks for sharing that, I guess you and i must have passed in the night somewhere, we've gone in opposite directions.
I began with eastern beliefs, teaching yoga and involved in other occult practices, then accepted the Lord Jesus as Lord and God and became a Christian.

Graham, I have no doubt that if we met we would get along and have a good time. I was just trying to add alittle to the exchange. About 15 years ago I obtained my status as a minister being able to preside over ceremonies mostly for legal considerations (marrages mostly for signing the paperwork).

Over the last 10 years I have not presided over any public functions but a few private and if I had seen someone in a kilt would only bring a smile, because I'd be in one too!

I just thought I'd throw something into the mix.
