Mookien totally nailed it.

I am always so impressed with your work. Very nice.

I've always been a huge fan of Mackintosh and Margaret MacDonald and I think you've encapsulated the style of the Glasgow School Four quite well. This is an absolute beauty. I do wish the bells had a tiny bit of ornamentation, but I understand if that's what the commissioner wanted.
If I may lend some advice - Don't attempt to emulate Mucha. You'll spend the rest of your life curling that horse hair and trying to get it to wisp just-right.

I can't really add anything that hasn't already been said, but... that's one beautiful sporran, and an amazing display of artistry and craftsmanship!

Thanks again, chaps! I did want to add that the soon-to-be owner is trying to join the forum right now, but having some issues getting registered, so hopefully we'll see some pix of it in action in the not-too-distant future.

Whoever is blessed enough to possess that gem has not just an heirloom, but a museum piece. Like Simon, I think you outdid yourself. Bravo!

Careful, you lot are going to make me blush. I appreciate the sentiment Thomas, but I've still got any number of techniques I'm working on. There have been some truly astonishing sporrans made, particularly in the High Victorian era. I still have quite a way to go.

This had me laughing quite a bit. I don't fancy myself a horsey-hair-stylist, so perhaps we should steer toward Mackintosh

BTW: Stay tuned, I've got something that should be rolling off the bench tomorrow that's been in the works for a while.

Hello, Ladies & Gentlemen. This is my first post here at X Marks the Scot. I am the commissioner of this truly fine and most remarkable sporran. It has been a complete and utter pleasure working with Scott, The Artificer from start to finish. I am a wee bit overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of Scott's artistry - and by all of your wonderful comments and observations. I will be posting more detailed comments and "action" shots once the parcel arrives.
In some ways, I am sorry that the creative process is concluded. I had so much fun working with Scott that I already miss the regularity of our conversations. I have developed a very deep and abiding respect for him as a person and as an artisan. I deliberately refer to him as The Artificer with a capital T, because in my view, he has no equal in his field.
I'm looking forward to sharing experiences with such an august group of like-minded people.

Welcome from Michigan.
I can only imagine how much fun this was. You truly do have a museum piece here. Be sure to keep all of the working documents and pictures to hand down to whatever lucky relative inherits this beauty.

Welcome aboard! I think you'll find the rabble to be a very good bunch.
I very much enjoyed this process as well- the back and forth evolution of all the
details was a treat. And it is a rare opportunity to get to craft something new to Highland wear, but still rooted in classic proportions.
I can't wait to see action shots! As I've said before, the only real downside to doing nearly all of my business internationally is that almost never get to deliver the finished pieces in person,
and, especially if it's going to a non-XMarker, sometimes don't ever get to see them worn.

Wow. It's been said already but...wow. Your work is exquisite. I love hair sporrans by the way and wish they were more popular nowadays. This is one very unique and special hair sporran.
Scott, from what I've seen your sporrans are nice and unique enough to be collectable as fine works of art.
