Lately we've been sipping a Glen Moray. We also like Glenmorangie (Sherri wood finish), Dalmore, and Laphroaig.
Even if you don't have a bit of Scot in ya, you can have a bit of Scotch in ya.

There is no such thing as a poor single malt whisky. Be it Speyside, Islay, Highland, or Lowland, they are all palatable and as varied as they are numerous. I am by no means an expert but it is fun trying to be :P . If I had to name one it would be Highland Park from the Orkney Islands.

I agree Beverlonian. Only good whisky and better.
You cant beat a Bowmore or Laphroaig. Strong peat/smoke flavours. Wonderful by the fireside in some remote pub with the wind howling outside and the snow piling up against he door.....

How come in all these Lists of Whiskys I don't see the one whisky that is thankfully free from Hype and Tastes like heaven
Ardbeg is the name (Just down the road from Lagavullin)
http://www.ardbeg.com/
Lukily the mainstream hasn't really opened it's eyes yet and goes for the safe choice....
Get a bottle of "Very young" or failling that 10year.If you like Smokey whisky like Lagavullin then try this. You won't regreat it
...Then you can write and say "Thank-you" David

The Macallan is by far my favorite I adore it, but have a special place in my heart for Glenrothes, a lovely little Speyside with a great bottle, and Aberlour, which was my first ever experience with single malts.
woohoo scotch!! too bad i came across this post so early in the morning!

Okay, everyone keep adding your favs. I am slowly making a list of all the fine single malts I plan on trying this year. I guess I will be making a few more trips to the Irish Heather, as them seem to have the best whisky menu in Vancouver http://www.irishheather.com/ih_menus.html#
