You are right, Rhino! There was a piece in Scotland's "The Sunday Post" (14th March). A small company - Club Kilts - has started to market kilts not in tartan, but in football team colours! Included, is the Saltire Kilt, but this one has the St, Andrew's Cross on the front apron of the kilt, unlike Darius's where it was across the pleats.

    St Andrews kilt

Good grief Hamish you're a walking, talking encyclopedia. Maybe you were right and the cross on Darius' kilt was stencilled on. It certainly looks as if the kilt is becoming more and more popular.

Somebody been on our site and seen the kilts that we custom-made for the group Barleyjuice months ago?

I hate it when this happens!

As Hamish says, Club Kilts make a Saltire Kilt which, from memory, is a plain blue kilt with a altire on the front (can't recall the back view).

However, there is an earlier version available from some kilt shops with a newly invented tartan called Saltire of Scotland - essentially blue with white vertical lines - and in a triumph of the kiltmaker's art they have managed to pleat it to line into a Saltire at the back.

Should have added that if you log on to www.thekiltcentre.com this earlier version of the Saltire Kilt appears as a "pop-up".

    Wales v Italy

Just watched 2 welsh players stamping on an Italian in a ruck. The Referee blew his whistle to award a penalty. Quite right too the Italian was off side

    Saltire Kilt

    Robbie,

THAT is the kilt that Darius wore last week at prelude to the Rugby match from Murrayfield. I'll call the Kilt Centre next week to ask about the Saltire design across the pleats. There is no way that vertical stripes could be pleated to form that design! It has to be something else - my guess is that it is stencilled, but I'll let everyone know when I have spoken with the Company.
