Brooke: Great pictures! Thanks for posting.
The first set engendered the thought, "Where the aristocrats hang at Stone Mountain". Then, I began to wonder if you were going to include a picture of your lovely lady. Good timing. She looks even more beautiful in that hand-crocheted shawl. Very nice.
The first caber toss sequence is precious. I could turn that caber, too, but would probably have to ice my back the next morning. The adult athletes just make me ache all over, though running around with the kids and the sheep would be fun.
A gaggle of MacMillans. Congrats! I like those claret and cinnamon (or whatever colors) hose with your kilts - good choice.

Reason: Brooke: My apology :)
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Thanks John. I certainly wouldn't qualify for the title of Aristocrat, but I think that MacMillan of Rathdown could be "His Highness of Haraldry" and Lamar Brit could easily be considered a "King of Sporrans"
The hose I am wearing with the weathered kilt are House of Cheviot Sandringham line in "Rustic Marl", the ones with the modern colored kilt you accurately recognized as the Lewis line in Claret.
It was certainly the largest troupe of MacMillans I have ever had the pleasure to be around, and the nicest as well.
Cheers,
Brooke

Brooke: Did you ever settle on your post-Stone-Mountain meanderings, eg Franklin, NC? If so, I hope you had a good time.

Appreciate the photos, Brooke; thanks for posting. You and some of the other rabble are very well dressed; truly inspiring. And... did I tell you that I really like that jacket your wearing.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. We did John, but we were not nearly as adventurous as we had originally planned. I will try to post some photos of the second leg of the vacation later this evening.
Thanks Kyle and Nile, or course, everything I learned about Highland attire I learned here on Xmarks, thanks for the recognition.
Nile, the checked jacket was purchased from Heritage of Scotland a few years ago during one of their 15% off sales. It is a heavy weight (20oz ?) Harris Tweed, unfortunately an option that they don't carry anymore. There was some difficulty sourcing the material in a timely manner, I believe, as all of the vendors who once offered it (HOS, Scotweb, Scottish Tartan Museum) no longer do.
Thanks again,
Brooke

Brooke, these were fantastic photos not only of your clan but the heavy games as well. I really enjoyed the pics of the children throwing the small caber. thank you for adding to what I was able to accomplish in 5 hours.
