Hi JohnAllen! I noticed that's your full first name, rather than Allen being your last name. Am I right?

This board's a great help when it comes to chosing your first kilt. I posted here for about three months before I bought my first kilt, because I had so many questions that I needed answered first. Of course, each and every one was answered.

Glad you could cross-over from Tom's (rather than the ususal crossing that goes on over there.)

    Greetings Lord Rufus

Yss, you are correct, the pronunciation is probably not quite like you think however. The J is soft, not the hard J as in John. If you know any French, it is the soft J as in "Je ne sais pas" (Translated -> "I don't know) in Parisian French the "Je" and "ne" are run together and is pronounced "Jun" soft J and short U. JohnAllen is run together in a similar way and I am not sure I can give a clear pronunciation in text. The acent mark would be over the second L, "JohnAll'en" emphasis on "AL" sound and is also pronounced with the acent mark at the end. with the emphasis on the "LEN" sound.

The name is a variation of the French "Jean Alain" combined "JeanAlain"

I have just used the typical "John" in the past but I do not prefer it. But please nobody start apologizing. As long as we treat it other nice then that's ok. "Avec mois!"

So now, Lord Rufus, that my first kilt is being made, I am looking forward to hearing from all of you Kilted Knights in helping me select my next one.

Allow me to extend a hearty welcome to you JohnAllen.
I hope you enjoy your time with the board. I have come to greatly appreciate everyone here, they all have an abundance of wit and wisdom coupled with no little patience.

    Bill
May all your blessings be the ones you want and your friends many and true.
