Congratulations. You have acheived something in the cause of kilt wearers that I would have never been able to do. It wasn't a matter of whether it would have been acceptable to HR or anything, I was an instrument maintainance mechanic in a chemica plant, For the sake of saftey, even women couldn't wear un-birfircated clothing if there was any chance that they would have to venture out into the plant. Heck, I couldn't even have a beard until after I retired,. I even had the length of my moustache measured by the superentendant of maintainance once. (the union really pitched a b@^%%th about that one.

magnus,
You are to be congratulated on your professional approach and of course your victory.
Further to what Blu said, you will have an opportunity to have the attention of a lot of people. Take this opportunity to show them your best side.
From a view point of 28 years as a manager, I'm impressed.

Fantastic news, magnus!
I just started a new job last Monday. They know I wear a kilt, but I haven't broached the subject of wearing one at work yet.

Congratulations Magnus! Since my kilts have been "outlawed" at work I'm really jealous, but I'm also glad to know there are places that are more enlightened. Way to go, now get out there and be a good "kilt ambassador".

Some of my coworkers came rushing to my desk this morning to see, but were disappointed to see me in jeans. I hadn't planned on wearing the kilt until monday (and even then, only once or twice a week until I get more kilts). It's really cool to get this kind of support from my friends, coworkers, management, and this forum. Other than this forum, I was expecting this to be more of an uphill battle.
