I had hoped to throw this evening but it was too cold; a freezing wind was blowing and rain appears to be on the way.
Gym time instead. Worked overhead press for the first time in awhile. 2 set of 3 at 95, 2 sets of 3 at 105, single at 115; switched to push press for 3 sets of doubles with 115; finished with strict set of 5 at 95.
Finished out with hammer curls, many traps, many abs; couldn't do seated bench row because it was taken everytime I walked by looking to jump on. Picked up dinner on the way home from our favorite Mexican place.

No throwing due to weather - very cold, felt like it was going to rain at any time. I'm hoping tomorrow will clear up.
In the gym I felt like a rusty old gate. For some reason I was really feeling the after effects of the push press from yesterday. Started on the bike and the elliptical, light fast traps, reverse extentions, bench row, light squats for the motion, abs, more bike and elliptical; finished with a good long stretch.

Raining tonight, no throwing. Again. Okay, we need the rain but does it have to rain on throwing days?

Went to the gym to lift instead.
Started with rack pulls - 2 warm up sets of 5 with 135; 2 sets of 5 at 185; 1 set of 5 at 205 and 225; set of 3 at 245; set of 2 at 255; set of 2 at 265; finished with a set of 5 at 225.
Moved over to the bench - 2 warm up sets of 5 at 115; 2 sets of 5 at 135; 1 set of 5 at 145; 1 set of 5 at 155; 2 sets of 2 at 165; finished with 2 sets of 5 at 145.
Easy traps and seated bench row to balance things out.
Good session.

No Sonora, Roger, but I'll definitely see you at Bakersfield.
Looking forward to it. So is Garrett.

I'm actually missing some gym time. Sheesh. I'm looking forward to Sonora and Bakersfield. This organizational stuff for Ardenwood is wearing me down.

Catching up: Friday evening Garrett and I went to Shaffer for some light stone work and easy weight lifting-it was still fairly wet from the recent rain. Saturday afternoon some loosening up on the bike and rom work with the bar, light traps, bench row, and shoulder routine.
This afternoon Gman and I threw at Shaffer Park with Ryan Rodriguez, who is excited about going into his second season of competition. I think we talked him into going down to Bakersfield in a couple of weeks. We worked a lot of wfd drills and throws, focus more form and footwork, than distance. Moved to hammers for awhile and finished with cabers.
I'm somewhat frustrated with wfd and hammers; after all the effort I've been putting into these events, I expected to see longer throws at this point.
Nothing to do but keep at it.

In early season training you should be more concerned that you're using correct form and don't mind the distances. On game day, the adrenaline will provide the extra boost for long throws.
Practice makes permanent so practice with good form.
