Everyone needs to know that you don't have to be from the Clan Gunn in order to sign the petition. I have read on several sites that people don't think that they can sign the petition because they aren't from Clan Gunn. They want to start another one for them. Anyone can sign the petition even if they are not Scottish. Just thought I'd add this. Thank you.

I was among the first 200 to sign, and as far as I know I don't have a drop of Scottish blood in me. Lots of Irish, however.

Al, aren't your ancestors from Ulster, though? Chances are you have a wee bit o' Scottish blood then!

    Cheers,

You are probably right. I've managed to trace my dad's ancestors back as far as 1812. They were from an area a few miles south of Larne, Co. Antrim. I've also found alot more Gingles in Scotland than I have in Ireland, so perhaps they came over from Scotland during the clearances. I still have a bunch of digging to do.

Please understand that when Beth wrote the petition, she never dreamed that more than 50 people would sign it, & she figured it would stay within the clan society. Once the petition is taking signatures, it can't be changed (which is only fair to the signers).

All sincere persons who agree with the petition & are willing to sign without making crude comments are welcome--except that I believe it's closed, or about to be closed.

    The latest word from Beth:

...and we need to get this out to people now...I just got off the phone with Terry Warmack.

    ...

We need to see if we can drum up financial support from whatever
organizations might be willing to back it up a bit...so, please start spreading the word..if you guys are on any message boards...pass the word fast..cuz travel expenses are going to run around a thousand bucks... for flight, hotel, etc..

    Next...the strategy.

Nathan's lawyer WANTS this first meeting to be a closed door meeting. This is because if we are in an open meeting, we sit quietly, listen..then leave. We can't say anything...BUT...If we are outside and it is a closed meeting...we can carry banners or whatever we want to do.

The lawyer wants to give them a chance to gracefully back down without everyone in there face to face with them...he is planning on making a pretty hard hit in the board meeting, and he thinks they will be more likely to back down if we aren't in there and they can save face abit.

    BUT...he does want supporters outside.

They are taking the petition around to the news organizations on
Monday and telling everyone that the meeting is that night. If it is a closed meeting, the board members are bound by law not to discuss what happens in the meeting..BUT..the Warmacks are not bound by that law..and they CAN meet with the media after the meeting. So..they are going to try to get media out there so they can meet with the media directly after the meeting.

    Here's the catch..

The lawyer wants support to GROW with each subsequent meeting....so...he wants to pace the numbers so that the supporters showing up at meetings grows rather than diminishes.

He suggested that whoever makes this trip, try to find someone to
replace them on the next trip or something so that we rotate our
supporters there and add a few each time, if possible.

The lawyer is going to take care of any city filings that have to be made for there to be a demonstration outside.

He is hoping that they fold this week...but he wants to be prepared for there to be increasing numbers of supporters if they don't. They have blinked. I can't go into it because I have promised that I would not discuss it..but there has been a blink on their part. So, we may have a resolution this coming Monday...but we won't know til they meet.

    ...

    Start passing the word..

    ~ beth

    Additional information

The Warmack Family's lawyers are going to meet with the school board
on Monday. The family has taken out loans on their personal property
to pay for expenses not covered by the pro bono portion of their
    lawyer's efforts.

I have set up the donation page to accept credit cards for Nathan's
Legal Fund as well as the Kilt Fund. I will periodically write a check
to the Legal Fund if credit card donations come in for that purpose.

    https:\\ancestrallineages.com\donation

This is a secure site and the donations go to Nathan Warmack's Legal
Fund. The fund was set up to pay any filing fees, and transportation
and lodging not covered by their pro bono civil rights lawyers. The
expenses could run several thousand dollars. There will be some
expenses to pay and the family has taken out loans against their
personal property to pay those expenses. Credit card billings will
show Ancestral Lineages as the merchant. I will cut checks to the
Nathan Warmack Legal Fund as I receive the credit card donations.

Checks to the legal fund can be mailed to:

    Nathan Warmack Legal Fund
    P.O. Box 833127
    Richardson, TX 75083

Let's help this family win an apology for Nathan and the right for
all students at Jackson High School to wear formal cultural attire to
their dances without fear of being denied entry.

We need to see if we can drum up financial support from whatever
organizations might be willing to back it up abit...so, please start
spreading the word..if you guys are on any message boards...pass the
word fast..cuz travel expenses are going to run around a thousand
    bucks... for flight, hotel, etc..

I'm unable to find or link to this site: https:\\ancestrallineages.com\donation
    Is there a problem somewhere?

Hmm, don't know what the problem is, but I got there by going to http://www.ancestrallineages.com & then adding the /donation onto the URL in the address window.

Problem solved. It was the way the link was spelled when first posted.
