I don't think you need to apologise for expressing your frustration. A business really should be respponsive to customers. Of course, sometimes things happen to derail the normal course of events, and Jim may have been ill or out of town or have some reasonable excuse. Small businesses like ours can't always cover all the bases in an emergency. But that doesn't change the fact that you were inconvenienced.
Of course, if you're going to join the ranks of those kilt-wearers who (quite rightly) object to the behaviour of kilt-lifters, then you really shouldn't tell anyone to kiss your 'hairy bee-hind'! (You said you didn't expect it from them, though! I realise you did NOT tell them to pucker up!)
