May I present you...
...the MacLean Ancient 16oz 8yrd, straight from the European tour! I think in the first pic the Finnish Army beret adds a nice touch. Don't tell my superiors though, just for artistic purposes ;) Been thinking of ordering a scottish cap badge for it though...

Great looking kilt and picture. Somethings are worth the wait, although they do sometimes test your patience!

That is a great looking kilt, but I'm afraid if you were told it was MacLean ancient when you purchased it, you were misled.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is MacLean ancient:
And this is the Hunting MacLean ancient:
Your kilt would appear to be Douglas modern:

Military style accessories always seem to go well with kilts. I wonder if it's because we're used to seeing the Highland units and pipe bands, and that has colored our perception.
And when you think about it, the balmoral is just a type of beret.

That and the fact that it was the Highland regiments of the British Army that "saved" Highland dress during the Proscription. Highland military fashion has a great influence on kilted "mufti" to this day...
BTW, the Douglas tartan is a "military" tartan, being worn by several regiments, including:
The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) -- disbanded 1968
The Witwatersrand Rifles of South Africa
The Royal Gurkha Rifles
The Pipes and Drums of RAF Halton

I do so love culture blending...never thought of a jean jacket with a tartan kilt. Thanks for that idea...
It doesn't just take courage to wear a kilt, it takes courage to go kilt shopping these days.
Hang in, hope the original kilt does show up someday.
