Guess I have the same warped sense of humor 'cuz I was thinkin' something similar! Maybe it's because I'm Clan Donnachaidh, too. Virtutis Gloria Merces!
Happiness? I'd settle for being less annoyed!!!

Usually:
Underwear (optional)
shirt
hose
Flashes (if worn)
shoes/boots
kilt
belt
sporran (if needed)
And does anyone else regularly get kilted in a public place? I work out 2-3 days a week in the mornings, and so I end up getting ready at the YMCA. I have to believe that some people think I am an idiot when they see me sitting down with underwear and shirt already on and putting on those long hose and tying up those heavy boots, when I don't have any pants on yet!

I've only been kilted for three days now, but in this heat . . .
1) Tea - Fine Irish Breakfast or English High Grown from Specialteas.
www.specialteas.com
2) Shower - since I hate to shave, I've taken to using a Wahl beard trimmer with a stubble attatchment, unless I must be clean shaven.
3) T-shirt - plain black or brown (green "Made in Ireland" t-shirt yesterday)
4a) Kilt
4b) Belt
4c) The Amerikilt has a detachable "sporran" but When my Rob Roy arrives, I doubt I'll use the AK sporran any more.

Shirt
Kilt
Socks
Footwear.
I don't dress in "formal" kilt attire. I didn't like dressing up when I wore pants and I won't do so just because I wear kilts.. I dress for comfort..

I start off with the First 3 S's.
Then:
1) Hose/socks go on
2) Shod myself with hiking boots or goth style "Skull Krusher" boots (3 inch thick soles), depending on my look for the day
3) Put on shirt according to my style of dress for the day
4) Wrap kilt about my ****
5) Fasten an appropriate belt about my girth, usually black, with either black or silver pyramid shaped studs on the belt in 3 rows
6) STRONG hair gel in my hair and spiked, or a solid black Glengary with a Clan Baird clan crest pin on the hat
I don't have a sporan yet, so, that's moot.
7) A nice single malt shot or a cold black n tan in my gob!
8) Repeat 7
9) Repeat 8
10) Repeat 9
11) etc, ditto, so on and so forth!

Shirt
Hose
Flashes (if the hose are up)
Shoes (boots, etc.)
Kilt (kilt pin already in place)
Belt
Sporran
Waistcoat (if the occasion calls for it)
Jacket (see above)
Fly Plaid & Brooch (once again, if the occasion calls for it)
Sgian dubh is always last. My little signal to myself that I am ready to go. Obviously, it's only when the hose are up and the situation allows.
