I would also skip the wing collar shirt and bow tie....a "normal" white dress shirt with cuff links and a plain tie will be more dressed to the occasion.
Even though the off white/cream hose are generally accepted (so it's a good choise )...I think they look out of place.
I'm not against black hose (davedove looks great wearing them), because they match the black jacket, while the off white hose stand alone...nothing to match with.
Diced or even better...tartan hose!

My personal choice would be the off white hose, the winged collar does seem to be too formal to wear with the Argyll jacket. I have worn a winged collar shirt with my Argyll, but I have concluded the spread collar formal shirt actually looks much better with the Argyll jacket.
At the Burns Supper last year I noticed how much better the spread collar shirts looked with the Argyll jackets. The picture of Dave Dove confirms that observation.
You will look very sharp with a normal spread collar shirt and kilt tie! Have fun.

With the Argyll I would go with a standard shirt and long tie since it's semi-formal and off-white hose. Chose a tie to go with the kilt color. mho

Add me to the Argyll and standard shirt, long tie mob. But then I'm not a bow-tie fan anyway.....

Ok,
Well I'm going to go with the off-white hose, but sticking with the wing shirt bowtie kind of like the fellow on the left in this photo; http://www.jhiggins.net/sf_proddetai...E15IBI7RROFL74
I personally feel a standard tie without a vest can look a little sloppy; http://www.jhiggins.net/sf_proddetai...5CP4S1G6MBIN9D
I'll do my best to put up some photos.
Thanks!

I think by now you've already got the message but I'll still put in my vote for the off-white hose.
