Okay.....I wasn't going to reply to this one but it sounded like you wanted as many opinions as possible.
For me, I am all about the Trouser Tyranny thing. I want men to have the freedom to wear something different than trousers. Now I hate trousers with a passion. They are stifling, confining.....I feel like I'm suffocating when I'm wearing them.
So.....I want kilts to become accepted as an option for men in all situations - even at work. I guess I that would be my goal and I see that as a good thing.
Would it be good if they were commonplace? I'm not even going to comment on that because I don't think it will ever happen. Can you imagine for instance an executive in a board meeting wearing a kilt?
On another web site a kilt visionary predicted a day when you could go to Wal-Mart and purchase Utilikilts off the rack in the men's department. I don't think that day will ever arrive because in the 21st century men have no backbone, no guts. They want to blend into the background by dressing like all the women around them in blue jeans. Unfortunately, I think this will be the trend for at least the next several decades - and perhaps forever.

It'd be nice if it were more commonplace to wear a kilt. But other than that I don't particularly care.

I, personally, do not want to see kilts/cilts become mainstream.

I think it would be super if kilts became more commonplace. Its a good sign that the mother of your pupil was so approving of the kilt; only a generation ago a kilted music teacher would have been considered oddball.

Boy am I torn on this. I just started wearing the Kilt in the last month. I did so initially as part of my hertiage and now because of comfort. Either that makes me a trendsetter (ugh) or an early adopter (even worse). For now, I say COMFORTABLE.

I certainly wouldn't mind if they became more popular, and who cares about trendy? the know-nothings will move on to the next trend soon enough, and those who like to be comfortable will continue to wear what we wear, right?

My thoughts?
The more the better And I'll bet the lassies would be happier too.
Perhaps mine would finally accept it.

I hope to God it gets popular! If it went mainstream I could wear one to work... I could go kilted full time! But as it stands, popular "Texas Opinion" doesn't leave room for kilts, even for a guy who edits video full time... and I am relegated to every where except work for the kilt. Heck, I went to the Cowboys game yesterday kilted and got nothing but compliments... except of course from the co-workers I told before the game. "You're going to watch an NFL game live... in a kilt? Whatever.
I say bring on popular and trendy... The tards that change trends more often than they change socks will move on, leaving behind acceptance of the kilt by most everyone... even if they do think it's "Soooo last year!"
