Nice one Jamie, a great present and project. I'm busting to know what the bolster was made from.
Thanks Erin!
The bolster is a small section of deer antler that I sanded flat on the ends and then used two part epoxy to glue to the handle blank. I then drilled the hole for the tang through both. Then using a belt sander, dremel sander, and various grades of sandpaper smoothed things out till the two pieces were flush. I taped up the bolster and stained the wood. Then I glued the two buttons on the handle and gave the whole thing a polish with carnuba wax.
I had the blade sharpened at the local knife place and attached it with more two part epoxy.
Cheers
