This thread inspired me to get back into my genealogy research. I've actually traced a couple of my lines back farther than I ever had before. The interesting thing is, I had always been told that my Walker ancestors were Scots, English, Irish, and German. I've found Irish, I've found German, and I've found a ton of Englishmen. I've yet to find a single bloody Scot, though. Won't change my kilt wearing a bloody bit, but it's kind of a weird feeling to have a large part of my believed heritage just go *poof!* from about 18 hours worth of research. Doesn't mean there isn't a link in there somewhere, just that some of my beliefs about my ancestry have to be adjusted.
And since I'm one of those stubborn stuck up American types, I'll still wear any tartan I please. Not that anyone has to worry that much, I prefer darker, more subtle tartans, like Black Watch, and most of the major clan tartans that I've seen are fairly bold.
