webelos neckerchiefs were tartan of some kind.
I did find some info about scouting in the UK, and scouts are allowed to wear kilts with their uniform.

    here is a link..

ebay listings have some Webelos neckerchiefs that are tartan.

take a look at these item numbers

    8282239715

    290090462275

or just search for 'webelos neckerchief"

I had simply assumed that the wieblos used the McLaren. I had learned about the scouts connections to the scots here on this forum. I was never a scout myself but my son is a wolf scout (cub scout), and he wears a kilt. So I wondered about it myself.

I love all of this info about it though. So thanks everyone who contributed.

Yep, not every plaid is a tartan! (Like the "MacTablecloth" from another thread.)

I remember my old Webelos neckerchief. I wonder what ever happened to that. I've still got my uniform shirt and the ribbon thingy that held the Webelos badges.

Always thought I'd pass that stuff on to a son. I had daughters.

    scout tartans.

The Scottish Government has now created a standard register for Tartans.

Google Scottish tartans register. search for "scouts".

    There are four listed.

Last time I was in touch with the Scottish Scouts they were only allowing ladies scarves to be made of the tartan. I have a neckerchief that I traded years agao.

Be careful because the tartan design is copyrighted.
