I might stick to my trusty New Balances, but my wife will love the Croc idea.

I never wear sneakers anyway, but I normally wear hiking boots when oot and aboot. It's all about the situation. You don't wear a tux to a dive and you don't wear the jeans you use to change the oil in your car to a five star restaurant (well, not unless you're a celebrity.)

In short you could go from black tie to casual without changing your kilt. Go with what makes you comfortable. Besides you're wearing a kilt! 'Aint nobody gonna be noticing your shoes.
Nick "oot and aboot" are you making fun of us Canadians?

Most people think I am Canadian  And no, I'm not making fun of Canadians. None of the Canadians I've met talk with the stereotypical Canadian accent, and I say "eh?" all the time. The Yooper accent was influenced by Canada almost as much as by Finland.

Macwage,
I just noticed that your hose/flashes/footwear matches your Lotus themed Miata. Cool!
