Very nice Bill! If the ladder locks you used are a little to bulky when you wear your pack, you can replace with a common link (2-bar), just in case. That kilt should look insane when it swishes.

I was just looking at that method of closure in one of my textbooks the other day I think. It mentioned a folded over strap run through a loop with velcro on both sides. With me being a thick headed dunderdoofus, I couldn't quite figure out what they were talking about. Now that I see a pic, the method they described is instantly recognisable.

I can't quite tell, did you go with a full-width apron or did you make it small-ish? If it's a full-width then really what you've got is a box-pleat tartan kilt...period.

Here are full-kilt shots. The over-apron is 16" wide, so yes, I guess I've really made a tartan box-pleat. But without the confidence I gained from making 5 X-Kilts I probably wouldn't have attempted this one, so I think the "hybrid" designation wil persist, at least in my mind. Thanks again to Alan H for sharing his talents with us. This evening I shall raise a glass of my finest single-malt in your honour, Sir.
