like others have said try it in black line first the color can be added later but can never be removed and if you are any kind of a sun worshiper the black line will maintain its appearance alot longer

I found a tattoo artist yesterday that I'm going to have do it. She seems pretty good. Clean shop, great portfolio, seemed pretty confident, all in all I got a pretty good impression of her. I'm going to go a little bit bigger than I had originally planned, at least 20% on her advise to get all the detail in. That puts it at around 5 inches wide by 6 tall or so. Fits easily on my arm so if we need to go a bigger than that still we can. I told her pretty much what I wanted and how I wanted the details, and the tartan in the back and all that. She was pretty confident about it. Said everything I wanted can be done and worked out just fine. She says its going to be about a 4 hour process, which kinda scares me because me sitting still for 4 hours isn't going to be easy hahaha I'll have to find something to occupy myself some how. Its going to be around $400 or so, so I just gotta save up a little extra money and set an appointment. I'll post pictures as soon as its done so everyone can see the finished product. Hopefully I'll be able to do it by next week some time. This will be my first tattoo. I really excited about it, now that everything is pretty much worked out and ready to go as soon as make the appointment.

5 inches or so is probably better anyway. I never understood why folks got tiny tattoos on big areas of skin??
It's like hanging a tiny picture on a big bare wall.....it's bad design.
If it fits nicely on your bicep you'll be much happier.

make sure you post pics of the finished tattoo

If it's on your upper arm (above the bicep) 4 hours isn't that bad. I've had tats done there and I barely felt it, remember it's all muscle up there. Eat before you go, no alcohol, Tylenol before hand might also be an idea.

I was going to say it's fantastic, but sense about 5 people said that already; I'll say it's exceptionally good!

I have to agree with Big Paul, you might think about staying with Black and grey. Just my $.02.
