Ask Porrick and Freelander about taxes in Norway.
I have been watching the exchange rate with much trepidation. We are considering pairing down our June trip or even chopping Edinburgh out entirely and just spending the whole time at Ferintosh and touring Southern Scotland and Northern England.
Does anyone know what currency they use in Iceland?

While trying to decide on whether to study abroad in Ireland or Scotland, the exchange rate was a major factor.
Needless to say (due to cost) I'm going to Ireland. No regrets, but it's too bad that the UK is becoming so expensive.

I saw on the news that the dollar is also weakening against the euro...

It's true the dollar is weak, americans need to stop borrowing and save!!! Another thing to keep you canuks and others from crying too much, I keep track of all the taxes I pay to the penny, 42.6% and I still pay for my health care on top of that about 15k a year. In the states you have to remember taxes are a hidden in language type of game i.e. fees, license, registrations, mills, levies, and don't forget 42.5C a gallon state and federal gas tax, plus duties, tarriffs don't get me started....Bottom line weak dollars, the result of paying too much interest. Thanks federal reserve.

Hear hear Corbinj! Folks in other countries always forget about that pesky issue of no Americans being covered by health insurance....other than what they pay for themselves. Back to the exchange rate: a good place to visit right now is Argentina. Places like Bariloche are very cheap compared to other parts of the world.

Corbinj, I wasnt crying my point was that we Canadians have been dealing with this kind of thing for a long time, and I've never brought it up I wasnt crying then and I'm not crying now.
You should see the gas tax we pay up here, plus the crude and refining costs, I do agree with you on the health care and your federal reserve, however even up here where we have a state run health care system it doesnt cover everything and our medical bills can go through the roof.
