I went to a ren faire this last weekend and saw a bunch of kilted pirates! I wore my Buchanan Sportkilt, with a piece of the fabric for a plaid, an Angora sporran and a dirk. Downed a few black 'n tans while watching the jousting event. Got a few compliments on the tartan. One knave commented that it was a "wuss" tartan, but was silenced when I came back about how much my OA likes it. Bet he wished he could wear one ta work...

Here is another pirate themed sporran! (Zoom in) This was taken at the London premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean; Dead Mans Chest.

Does anyone know who the kilted gent is?

I think he was the Captian of the Edinburgh trader. The ship that was sunk mid way throught the film.

    Captain Bellamy
Captain Bellamy commands the merchant vessel The Edinburgh Trader that Elizabeth Swann stows away on during Dead Man's Chest. Later, his ship picks up Will Turner at sea. However, Will's presence aboard dooms everyone to suffer the wrath of Davy Jones. Jones' monstrous Kraken attacks and sinks the ship; Bellamy is the first to die when he is snatched off the deck by one of the monster's tentacles. He was played by Alex Norton (a Scottish Actor).

Nice looking, but Freelanders should be MUCH more functional.

Just thought I'd mention that I went to a Pirate Festival today (sort of like a pirate themed ren faire), and saw at least a half dozen black UKs being worn, not counting the ones worn by WalkerK and myself.

    Best regards,

    Jake
