Yesterday's funny episode
As most of you know by now, I will be leaving for Hyderabad at the end of the month and will be there for 4 to 6 months. This is leading to my basically being kilted full time for now (I am not taking one with me). Yesterday evening, I stopped by a local Chick-Fil-A to grab a quick sandwich as I was doing some travel preparation. Now the restaurant is rather full and is loaded with teenage kids. So as I am standing in line looking around I see a lot of smiles and stunned faces (even heard a gasp or two). So, here comes the funny part, the young lady in front of me receives her order and turns around to where I am standing.... Both her jaw and her tray hit the floor at the same time. There was chicken, potatoes and soft drink everywhere. The entire place become dead quiet as she exclaims..... "that is the one thing I did not expect".
Being the gentleman that I am, I offered to replace her dinner as I was the one that caused the ruckus. She politely declined and the restaurant replaced it for her. I was invited to dine with her and her friend to which I declined (married, after all).
It was just the end of a great day.
(p.s. At some point, I will write the story of the visit to the clothing stores and trying to get measured for a pair of trousers. The poor tailor did not know what to do.... Just how do you measure the inseam on a man in a kilt?)

"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon
