Yeah, I'd be very concerned with what a 6" silver pin would do to the fabric of my kilts. I don't think I'd put anything bigger than about 4" on my apron.
Those are beautiful designs, though.

I'm thinking that 4" is probably about the max. Sword pins six inches long almost qualify as small knives by themselves. The sgian dubh's overall length is usually 7".
Nice looking work though.

Ditto what the others said about size, weight, and fear of snagging. More to the point, while your drawings are quite lovely, have you looked around at what kilt pins are already available?
For example the www.kiltstore.net alone has 30 sword based pins listed here
And here are some designs for sale at www.scotlandshopdirect.com

my point being, that if you are going to design and make a custom kilt pin, you might want to branch out.
