    Ninjavanishh,

I'm a newbie, too and seems that most of this board prefers SWK. I wanted to specify a tartan and have ordered from Frugal Corner--waiting eagerly for my first kilt.

I found a nice economy sgian dubh at www.eknifeworks.com, search under "scottish dagger". It is a two piece set for less than $20 with shipping. The larger one is too big for a sgian but the smaller is perfect. It looks nice and is a great deal for the money. It is foreign made and not as perfect as the Scottish-made ones I have seen, but a great bargain for a decent dress sgian.

thanks Dtrain, but I'm actually going to be looking for some hose to wear first, and maybe a kilt pin. I need to get a belt as well.

SWK is good on price and crazy-mad fast on delivery. TC has a wider selection of tartans in stock. I have 3 SWK and 2 TC and I like them all. Don't forget that you can always make your own kilt as well. I've hand sewn my 2 Clan Mac Bedsheet kilts and they are indeed serviceable kilts. It really isn't rocket science. There is plenty of info here so you wouldn't be flying blind.

I got them in the mail today, They're pretty awesome. The thrifty is better quality than I expected, and they both look really good. The economy seems longer, though.

Congrats on the new kilt. I'm a Tennessean too. What part of Tennessee are you in? Welcome to the club.
