David: if we end up with Wilson's colors, would you be thinking of trying again in a year or so? A smaller single-width order? As you may deduce, I can't choose.
If we can get enough together for the DW I'll probably just go with the majority decision, I'd be hard justified to pay twice as much for single width if DW is available. Besides, who knows which of the two color schemes will be more popular?

Now, if you're interested in a SW order with me, check this out:

This is Matt's best guess for what the Culloden tartan would look like in it's ORIGINAL colors, before fading. LtCol Peter MacDonald has found the original "Culloden Jacket" and has written an article about it, but I can't find a way to link to it on the STA members' website. Now this tartan, in Wilsons' colors, made into a 4yd box-pleat would be pretty awesome.

    Cordially,
    David

<bump> Anyone else interested in a nice Carolina tartan?

I'm still interested, and may have a couple more prospects locally. In fact, I may just have to pinch my pennies and order 8 yards...

Depending upon the final price, I'd be interested in 4 yards (a wonderful belted plaid).
    Email me the necessary info.

It is hard to say *exactly* where we are simply because of some of the ambiguous posts, i.e. "I'm in for either 2 or 4 yards" or "I might take 4 yards depending upon the price" etc. However, just looking at the general numbers, I think we have enough to do this.

So here's what I want to do. I'm going to have this cloth woven in the traditional Wilson of Bannockburn colors, 54" wide, in heavy weight wool. The cost will be $65 per yard.

If you are willing to commit to this price, email me (don't post it here) at macnewsome@gmail.com with the subject heading "Carolina Tartan cloth" and let me know how many yards, your name, address, etc.

I will wait till the end of this month. At that time I will close the orders, and send out PayPal invoices to those who have committed. (If you prefer to pay by check or credit card over the phone, that's cool, too, just let me know).

I'll then get the cloth on order and it should be about 12 weeks for it to be finished and ready to send out.

    Thanks, guys!
    Matt

Slight amendment to the above. I've added an order page at the Scottish Tartans Museum web site, here:
    http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/...na_special.htm

(You can also go there to see a scan of the cloth in the traditional eighteenth century colors in which we are having it woven).

You can either go to the above site to order the material, or if you'd rather you can still email me privately and let me know how many yards to put you down for and I can arrange payment variously as per my previous post.

Either way, I'd like to cut off the orders at the end of this month so I can get the order into the mill, which should give us cloth in hand before we get into the summer Games season.

    Aye,
    Matt

I'm hoping hoping hoping I can get in on this. But, since someone decided to crash into my Dodge, and decided state mandated liability insurance was for the birds, I'm left with making a claim with my own insurance company and a deductible in my lap.

At this point we've moved beyond asking for a show of hands to see if there is sufficient interest, because I believe it has been determined that there is. I'm asking people now to commit to the order, so that I can place the cloth order with them mill -- hopefully at the end of this month.

The easiest way to do that is to go to this order page to place your order:
    http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/...na_special.htm

If you'd rather pay by some other method, just email me with your order details (i.e. how much cloth, and where to ship it).

I'm trying to get a firm number of committed orders by the end of this month so I can put the order in to the mill. So all you folks who said you'd be interested, now's the time! Thanks!
    Matt
