All right, nice, the reason I asked was because so many people here seem to be so against the idea of ever wearing a kilt without hose. Glad to know this is an exception. Sporran off or at least to the side does seem like a good idea!

I'd go sporranless. There are no rules in this regard except for underoos.

Actually I hardly ever wear hose in the summer. Regular cotton socks are so much cooler and when you are wearing them scrunched down, it doesn't matter.
There are 10 kinds of people in the world...
Those that understand binary, and those that don't.

Actually, when they first came out, they were normally worn on the back of the waist.

Reminded me of my friend trying to google Fanny, one of my favourite bands. Nothing but sites he couldn't look at. I remembered some songs and googled the words and came up with fan sites.

I often wear the kilt without kilt hose. I wear kilt hose when the weather warrants it. When it's hot out or I'm working out, I'd be wading in sweat if I were wearing thick wool socks! Wear what you want - the kilt is a garment, not a costume! When I hike or run I wear low crew socks, that only come up to my ankles. When I run I don't wear a sporran. Wear the kilt for comfort, because you want to. Especially while doing active sports, there's no need to make it a fashion show!
Andrew.

Right! Besides, long stockings are dangerous when doing active sports in cold weather. They interfere with the radiator effect of the lower legs, which is an important part of the body's temperature-control system. Wear long socks when running in cold weather and you'll sweat so much that you'll likely be chilled while trying to cool down.
