In the picture of you with your coat on, it looks as if he's peering out from under the coat.

"What is ... Is that a ... Why a ... I've never seen one like it!"
And it seemed like every woman within reach had to pet my sporran.
[That last sentence was just for Grant's benefit.]
Something else happened when I was seated. First the weight of the sporran made it fall down between my legs, which is something sporrans normally do. However, during the concert I reached into the sporran and pulled out my camera. When I pulled the camera out, the heavy leather of the sides kept the sporran from falling closed. And the lowered flap held them like that, and they in turn kept the flap resting more or less horizontally. So at one point the woman next to me looks over, and thinks she sees my sporran watching the performance!
(You can almost see what I'm talking about in the last two pictures here. Instead of facing down, Frank is looking at the camera ... or the leftover haggis.)
As long as you're happy with it. with a mask sporran if you carry a lot the front tends to push out and the mask rests on the front. Do you think the design should be modifed to, perhaps, make the front panel concave at the top a bit to allow the flap to drop more easily? This would reduce the storage somewhat but may minimize the "head-propping. I'm workinf (slowly) on a racoon. I might give that a try since it's not a commissioned sporran an I can 'speriment.

Turpin, I don't think any modification is necessary. The "watching sporran" was more an effect of sitting in the auditorium's automatically rising seats while holding an overcoat with one hand and sweeping the pleats with the other. When I've been driving, or at the SOKS Burns Supper, the flap closed normally.

Great looking sporran. And just for those who are confused by rodents:
Groundhog:
species Marmota monax from the squirrel family, Sciuridae, order Rodentia
up to 13 pounds, 6 kg
head and body 20 inches(50 cm) long; tail 18 inches
found in eastern and central United States, across Canada, and into Alaska along forest edges abutting meadows, open fields, roads, and streams.
good swimmers, can climb tall shrubs and sizable trees
Gopher:
any of 38 species from the family Geomyidae, order Rodentia
0.5 pound (250 g)
head and body 6 inches (15 cm) long; tail 3 inches (8 cm)
range from southern Canada and the United States, south through Mexico and Central America, to northwestern Colombia. Found from coastal areas to above the timberline in high mountains.
two to three-year lifespan
They are two different species and since the groundhog is so much larger than the gopher, one could imagine having an ground hog sporran with an inside pocket flap made from gopher, which would give new meaning to the pocket gopher. Sort of an inside joke

No joke...
Kiltos to both Turpin and Wompet. That is a very nice groundhog sporran. Wompet has already discovered the joys of wearing a full mask sporran. They are quite the conversation piece - whether seated or standing (the wearer, that is.)

Sometimes I wish gophers were only a joke. I've killed eight of these tiny rodents in my garden in the one year I've lived here. To answer an earlier question, the pelts of all eight of those critters still wouldn't cover one sporran.
