In the Orthodox church, the service books just specify "bright," "light," and "dark" vestments. These are usually white, gold, and purple, respectively, but it is really up to the priest. Blue is popular among the Greeks, I know, and I'm told that the Russians are fond of green, and my priest likes to wear red.

    Hey Sister,

Seems like there's a need to be filled here. You could design a tartan for each season using the appropriate colors. Then get it trademarked or registered or whatever in the name of your order. Then the order can sell the woven cloth to raise money....if that's allowed.

Hey Sister, you could then sell Lengths of the Tartans for Banners, Altar Frontals, Ambo scarves etc. Prebyterians would buy them also.

I think a special tartan for each season would be another example of the Spandex Rule.

    Best to leave it alone.

I have a Clergy tartan, I wear it preaching sometimes but it's not my favourite kilt. We are not into Liturgy as such, but I preach all the time in a kilt, since we don't have any special clothing for church (many ministers wear black suits - yuk), I think any kilt is great to wear for any event or occasion.

    that's what I think

Thanks to everyone who answered the liturgical colors/seasons questions...I've been super busy the last couple of days (working on Ed.D. project) and have not really had time enough to post!

P.S. CAUTION: Working on an MA in Systematic Theology while at the same time working on an Ed.D. and looking for a job can be dangerous to your sanity!!

Having done two of them (with mandatory thesis, including defense) at the same time, I can only sympathize. I can't even imagine what it's like to be doing a doctorate at the same time, nor would I want to!!

Good luck with all that! I'll say one to Aquinas for you.

Hope that all works out well with... all those things you are working on, Pipesndrumsnun. Take care of yourself, I know that the stress of working, and college together can be almost overwelming. Best of wishes.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
